Choosing the Right AI Interpreting Solution: Challenges and Approaches
Interpreting SIG Meeting - June 2026
This event is FREE for members and nonmembers.
As the AI ecosystem evolves rapidly and new AI interpreting tools are released, choosing the right solution isn’t always straightforward. This panel brings together Peter Argondizzo (Argo Translation), Andreea Danielescu (Wordly), Adam Youngfield (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ), and academic expert Tomasz Korybsky (University of Warsaw) for an open discussion on what really matters when evaluating these technologies.
Rather than a one-way presentation, this session will focus on sharing perspectives from the industry, tech provider and academia, exploring both the practical challenges (like latency, stability, and UX) and the more nuanced dilemma of what defines quality in AI interpreting across languages and contexts.
The panel will compare approaches, reflect on lessons learned, and exchange views on how AI interpreting should be assessed and compared to human interpreting.
By the end of this session, you’ll walk away with a clearer framework, practical evaluation criteria, and the perspective needed to make informed, future‑proof decisions as AI interpreting continues to evolve. We look forward to an insightful conversation!

Peter Argondizzo founded Argo Translation, originally based in Milwaukee, WI, in 1995. Prior to transferring his love of all things international, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he graduated with a major in finance and human resource management. After graduation, he went on to become an Italian translator and project manager for an international medical equipment manufacturer and major airline.

Andreea Danielescu is the Director of R&D at Wordly, where her team builds the next generation of real-time translation technology. She specializes in product innovation and applied research across emerging technologies, with a background spanning human-centered computing, speech and gesture interaction, wearable and ubiquitous computing, smart materials, edge intelligence, and ethical and sustainable tech.
Prior to Wordly, she led the Future Technologies R&D group at Accenture Labs, where her team explored edge technologies at the intersection of physical science and computation — including biotechnology, smart materials, energy harvesting and storage, and neuromorphic computing. Earlier in her career, she worked as an engineer and researcher on conversational interfaces at Facebook and Intel.
Andreea holds a PhD in Computer Science from Arizona State University, 16 patents, and more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. She is a Senior Member of the ACM.

Tomasz Korybski is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw, and freelance conference interpreter with 20+ years of experience. His current research focuses on evaluation and benchmarking of interpreting quality (human and MI) as well as technology-assisted interpreting.

Adam Youngfield is the Group Product Manager over AI Advancement for the Church's Publishing Services Department. He sets vision and strategy for AI in his department and collaborates with other senior leaders in the organization to set Church-wide AI strategy and policy. He has over 12 years of experience in leading technical and operational teams within the language services sector, including over 5 years of teaching at the university level. He and his wife have four children, and the whole family loves traveling and spending time outdoors.
