AI and Automation Traps in Combining Tech Comm With Localization
The latest developments in AI rebooted the industry's spirit and drive for innovation. As the hype seems to have cooled down, we are now in a different place where we can realistically assess what seems to be a dead end and what has worked.
There is a delicate space where Tech Comm connects and overlaps with Localization. We no longer live in a world of source content and target moving in a cascade process. Spreading multilingual information is now easier than ever, and it also means the traditional translation model is no longer catching up.
Business-wise, NMT has not entirely solved this problem for small and medium-sized projects in specialized domains and less common languages. All this sparks the need to innovate and apply automation and AI-related technology in all parts of the content life cycle. However, it is a double-edged sword and brings some new challenges.
In his presentation, Agenor Hofmann-Delbor will cover:
* Why traditional CAT tools with AI plugins fail to get the best of the current capabilities of LLMs.
* How the common need for automated publishing can worsen the process, and how to fix it.
* How a team of authors and localization engineers can find their separate - yet complimentary - areas to improve their everyday efficiency with LLMs without throwing away the years of standardization.
* What are the missing pieces of a puzzle on our side, and how we can help AI in helping us more.
* How multimodality of LLMs can open entirely new areas of improving efficiency.
* How can LLMs help with content which has never been included in their training data.
