Every quarter, GALA publishes a Call for Content to invite translation, localization, and interpreting professionals to share their expertise by creating and contributing relevant content.

Submitted content should be original, informative, and engaging. It should address topics relevant to the industry. This can include localization and interpreting best practices, emerging trends and technological advancements, case studies, and industry insights.

You can write a blog post, an article, present a webinar, moderate a panel discussion, or do an interview with us. Opportunities abound! Contact [email protected] to discuss your ideas.

Please note: Our calls for content are open to GALA members and non-members alike. GALA members will receive priority for publication.

 

CALL FOR CONTENT Q4 2024

In Q4 2024, we invite you to share your life and work experiences in localization:

  • The One That Got Away: Projects That Didn't Go as Planned (and Lessons Learned)
  • "When Language Saved My Life": Stories of Multilingualism Saving the Day
  • Passion Projects: Localization Work That Made a Difference

We welcome articles and/or short videos about your localization adventures!

CALL FOR CONTENT Q3 2024

In Q3 2024, we would like to receive content on the following topics:

- Emerging Services in the Language Industry - We would like to hear from language (tech) companies that have added (or plan to add) new services to their portfolio.

  • How can market trends and customer feedback help identify new service opportunities?
  • Can partnerships with technology companies help you identify new service trends?
  • What new services have you launched or are you planning to launch? This is your chance to promote them!

- Employee Experience - We are looking for articles and presentations on topics such as hybrid work, diversity and inclusion, well-being, and continuous learning in the modern workplace.

  • What are the key drivers of employee satisfaction?
  • How can organizations effectively promote diversity, equity and inclusion?
  • What strategies are effective in supporting employee mental health and well-being?
  • How can continuous learning and development programs improve employee engagement?

- Language Data Management - Let's talk about best practices and challenges in language data management, focusing on data collection, quality assurance, privacy, and the integration of language data with AI technologies. In your experience:

  • What are the most effective methods for collecting high-quality language data?
  • What are the challenges in maintaining the quality and integrity of linguistic data?
  • How can organizations ensure the security and privacy of linguistic data?

For our Call for Content for Q2 2024 we would like to receive content on the following topics:

  • Low-resource languages (available technology, project management, data collection, interpreting challenges, etc...)
  • Professional development in the age of AI (professional development frameworks, relevant skills, change management, mentorship programs, recruitment and evaluation, etc...)
  • Sales and marketing strategies and challenges (entering new markets, handling market changes, lack of talent, etc..)

We also invite academics and researchers to share your cutting-edge research and experience in linguistics, computational linguistics, translation and interpreting studies. This is your chance to get feedback from industry experts and practitioners!

  • When it comes to innovation, what's your company's philosophy? How important is innovation in your organization? 
  • Is there such a thing as too much innovation? Where should we draw the line? 
  • Has your company adopted any non-technical innovations in the past two years? We'd love to hear about your inventive solutions.
