In your view, what are the most important challenges and opportunities facing GALA?

I believe GALA has a few opportunities in the industry right now.

  1. Continue to grow the customer base - other than LSPs. It is clear to me that GALA has developed this aspect a good bit in the last few years and would benefit from it even more by growing it.
  2. I strongly believe that there is an opportunity right now for one of the localization conference to strengthen their program by asking/imposing practical outcomes to every presentation. Too many panels, presentations, case studies, remain quite 'vanilla'. As a result, attendees lose interest and the conference loses credibility. Not an easy ask, but great benefits await if we can position GALA as the 'real and insightful content' conference. Where people actually share great actionable content. People are giving away their precious time, and money, they need the most valuable content.
  3. Continue to push the trainings/workshops, that is a clear differentiator and value to your members.
How have you engaged with GALA as a member?

Participated in annual events and speaking engagements.

Besides your work with GALA, how do you engage with our industry (associations, conferences, speaking, publishing, community events, etc.)?

I attend many events: GALA, LocWorld, SlatorCon, TAUS, Women in Localization. I am a co-organiser of the BBF pre-conference event at LocWorld. I have had many speaking engagement and organised/sponsored local events too. I run a podcast called Global Ambitions.

What superpowers can you bring to board service? Describe previous board experience, leadership training, or strategic leadership you’ve had.

Welocalize leadership team, investors experience, Venga C-Suite, Mentor at Argos.

Which segment(s) of GALA's membership do you represent? What perspective will you bring?

LSP. Continuous learning with AI affecting us all. As mentioned above I'm all in for 'real sharing' of knowledge. I think we need to make this mandatory. I strive to do this in our podcast and with BBF workshop.
