In your view, what are the most important challenges and opportunities facing GALA?
With the current uncertainty in the global economy and technological advances with AI, what are the wise steps to take for each organization, be it LSPs, clients, technology provider, academia and consultancy firms who are serving different customers base who are at different growth rate and locally, regionally or globally based? There is no perfect answer or solution or user manual that gives all the relevant steps. Then what can businesses do to navigate through this critical phase of their growth? As we know, no growth equals stagnation equals risk of shrinking revenue.
GALA shall strive to be the Lighthouse to light the paths of possible business growth not by itself alone but by the power of the members and industry peers who are most willing to join hands in helping each other rise above the current challenges. GALA is a community and a special and extraordinary one because of its members and selfless contributors who give of their time. In future, I envision GALA and its members and members-to-be onward march as One. The sense of identity and belonging as a GALA community gives all the confident that we are never alone to face now and the future!
I am currently serving my 2-year term as GALA Board Member (2023 - 2024). If I am elected for the new term, I would want to help GALA to become even more relevant to what businesses need at this new age of changes and advancements, so that no one is left behind.
How have you engaged with GALA as a member?
GALA is my organization go-to source for knowledge and connecting with much wider community of industry peers within and outside of Asia! And in year 2023, I had the privilege to serve as a Board Member as a way of giving back to the community and industry I love!
Besides your work with GALA, how do you engage with our industry (associations, conferences, speaking, publishing, community events, etc.)?
I was serving actively as Events Manager in the Women in Localization Singapore Chapter for past 3 years till 2024. Been on the panel speaking engagement at GALA Valencia Conference 2024. In the past, back in LocWorld Singapore Conference, held workshop and speaking in session on cultural adaptation.
What superpowers can you bring to board service? Describe previous board experience, leadership training, or strategic leadership you’ve had.
Being CSO of my company - Attentive and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
Which segment(s) of GALA's membership do you represent? What perspective will you bring?
LSP perspective to grow and pace with the clients' needs. Sharing on-the-field feedback to GALA community and learning from one another, so as to encourage one another. Each LSP and each client's organization is at different growth stage. We need to share used cases to grow in sync.
