The School of Translators and Interpreters of Beirut (ETIB) is dedicated to delivering an exceptional education that equips students with comprehensive knowledge, specialized expertise, and vital soft skills essential to the fields of translation and interpretation.
Since its foundation, ETIB has strived to be not only an academic institution but also a vibrant space for intellectual reflection and professional exchange. To fulfill this mission, ETIB has organized numerous roundtables, seminars, and conferences addressing current issues in translation and interpretation. In addition, ETIB publishes the renowned “Sources Cibles” collection, an academic series that gathers influential works and research in translation studies, thereby enriching the field and fostering scholarly discourse.
ETIB also benefits from the resources of “Al-Kīmiyā,” a journal which primarily publishes research in translation, interpretation, and languages, with a particular focus on translation, terminology, the history of translation, intercultural communication, translation and language teaching, and language sciences. This journal complements ETIB’s academic offerings by providing a scholarly platform for groundbreaking research and fostering intellectual inquiry across related fields.
Recognized for its excellence, ETIB is a member of CIUTI (Conférence Internationale Permanente d'Instituts Universitaires de Traducteurs et Interprètes), a leading international organization dedicated to translator and interpreter training. ETIB’s Master’s program in Translation has also been awarded the prestigious European Master's in Translation (EMT) label by the European Commission, a distinction that only a select few programs in Europe achieve, attesting to ETIB’s high standards. Furthermore, ETIB has solidified its commitment to global engagement and professional collaboration by establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations, underscoring its role as a key contributor to the translation and interpretation fields worldwide.
