In this ever-evolving global landscape, the localization space has taken center stage, and unfettered access to quality data has never been more relevant. On the one hand, we are faced with tremendous technological advances that are on the verge of reshaping our professional reality, and on the other hand, financial instability on a global scale is creating an even greater need to be able to produce high quality data that can support and drive meaningful, informed decisions.

This event will focus on enabling attendees to understand data structures and iteratively move through more advanced data logics, ultimately enabling them to take the information gained and deploy data solutions in production. Attendees will see and practice core localization data and data management practices, as well as expand their knowledge to include related data structures and visualization of stored data.

This event is for:
  • Localization Managers
  • Localization Engineers
  • Program Managers
  • Project Managers

Any level of familiarity with data and supporting principles (business intelligence, data warehouses, API, data mapping) is welcome.

Lead by: Alex Zekakis (XTM International)

The Program

Session 1 - Data In Localization
01 October 2024 - From 7am PDT to 8:30am PDT (4pm CEST - 5:30pm CEST)

(This event is available globally. See the World Clock Meeting Planner to check your local time.)

Session 1 of the event will focus on understanding the core principles and concepts surrounding data in the localization space, as well as defining the legal and ethical considerations one must be aware of when processing and visualizing data, especially as it relates to sensitive data (PII) and IP.

During this session, we will delve into the details of the different types of data that exist within localization and can be used to create meaningful data visualizations; the session will conclude with a break-out session of hands-on collaboration where we will focus on reaching consensus within the group on the most important data points that we need to capture.

Guest Expert: Johan Sporre, Engineering Manager Digital Global Language Services, IKEA Retail (Ingka Group)

Session 2 – Data Management Practices
08 October 2024 - From 7am PDT to 8:30am PDT (4pm CEST - 5:30pm CEST)

During session 2, we will build on the foundation established in session 1 and move into understanding the different data sources that can be leveraged, but also what tools can be used to produce the expected outcome, expanding on the definition of single source of truth and data ownership principles.

We will conclude with a breakout session that will build on the results of Session 1, focusing on mapping the agreed upon data points to the appropriate data sources available to us.

Guest Expert: Emil Atanassov, Vice President Internationalization and Accessibility Engineering, ServiceNow

Session 3 – Advanced Data Interconnections
15 October 2024 - From 7am PDT to 8:30am PDT (4pm CEST - 5:30pm CEST)

In session 3, we will move into more complex topics, specifically the concept of connecting data from multiple sources, understanding the key principles surrounding this concept, and how we can proceed with mapping data in advanced ways.

The breakout session will take the results of the collaborative work of the last two weeks and have us try to connect the data between the different sources, using BPMN diagrams to visualize the lay of the land.

Guest Expert: Joanna Góralczyk-Weitz, COO, Argos Multilingual

Session 4 - Data Storage and Visualization
22 October 2024 - From 7am PDT to 8:30am PDT (4pm CEST - 5:30pm CEST)

As we move towards the end of the event, session 4 will tie things together by exploring data storage and visualization, diving into data warehouses and BI solutions that we can use, but also extending into visualizations and automatic data triggers by demonstrating real life examples.

The final breakout session will focus on enabling us to visualize the data we have produced so far as a tangible outcome of the event, and we will conclude by discussing data-driven decision making and process optimization.

Guest Expert: Konstantin Savenkov, CEO, Intento

Host organization: Globalization and Localization Association
