Join us for a rapid fire session on how AI translation is making waves in both the medical and gaming worlds.

First you’ll hear from Cristina Anselmi (MT, Tech and Automation Manager at Electronic Arts). She will share EA’s innovation story of bringing automatic translation into their game localization process, showing how they improved speed and kept quality in check.

Then we’ll give the floor to Sara Guerreiro de Sousa (Product Manager at Unbabel Innovation Team). She will show how the company’s High Risk tool is used in the medical field to make sure that translations meet strict regulations.

Whether you're dealing with creative content or tricky regulations, these two innovation stories will offer you fresh ideas and inspiration.

The discussion will be moderated by Andrea Ballista (Voiseed) and Dave Ruane (Lion People Global).

The Program

8am PDT (17:00 CEST) - Integrating automatic translation in the localization pipeline: a 5-year success story.
Presenter: Cristina Anselmi (MT, Tech and Automation Manager at Electronic Arts)

Before the LLMs era, implementing an automatic translation system for very creative content, especially in the videogame industry, seemed like a utopian idea. At EA we made it possible starting in 2019 and optimizing it throughout the years. In this session we will explore what was the reason behind the choice, what to consider before implementing it and how to make this a smooth transition without disregarding quality while improving efficiency and speed of delivery.

8:30am PDT (17:30 CEST) -  Handling High-Risk Content in the medical industry
Presenter: Sara Guerreiro de Sousa (Product Manager at Unbabel Innovation Team)

"Handling high-risk content in the medical and pharmaceutical industries poses serious challenges, including translation errors and regulatory compliance issues that can delay the market entry of new drugs. At Unbabel, we set out to address these challenges, such as detecting translation errors, generating explanations, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Our team developed a solution called High Risk to increase accuracy, speed and consistency. The result: reduced liability risk, ensured patient safety, and accelerated product launches in multiple markets."
