In the era of AI and Gen AI, the role of localization project managers must transform to meet the evolving needs of the localization industry. The traditional project management skill sets are not sufficient anymore; we must redefine the core tenets and skillsets that the localization project managers need to thrive in this rapidly changing landscape. At Dell PMO, we have been at the forefront of this evolution, which encompasses a transition from operational project management to a role centered on strategic engagement at the program level.

We have shifted our focus from being task-oriented to result-oriented, from executing short-term initiatives to driving long-term vision, and from delivering projects to building AI competency into our workflows/toolbox. Ultimately, our aim is to become a Globalization Center of Excellence. As strategic partners, we want a seat at the table with our stakeholders to drive localization into the heart of Dell's global strategy, for the benefit of our global customers.

We are excited to share our journey of PMO evolution, the criteria that guided our transformation, the strategic plans we have implemented, and the key success measures we’ve achieved. Our story serves as a testament to the power of adaptation and innovation, showcasing how localization project managers can thrive in the era of AI and Gen AI by reimaging their roles and skill sets to meet the evolving demands of the localization industry.
